TPS Terminations and Form I-9: El Salvador, Ukraine, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon and More

What changed

TPS terminations affecting Form I-9: Somalia terminated Aug. 14, 2026, Burma and South Sudan Aug. 7, and Ethiopia Aug. 18 (reverify those employees now); El Salvador ends Sept. 9 and Ukraine and Sudan Oct. 19, 2026, with expired EADs extended to those dates by USCIS notice; Lebanon is extended to Nov. 27, 2026.

Who it applies to

Employers with employees holding TPS-based work authorization from Somalia, Burma, Ethiopia, South Sudan, El Salvador, Ukraine, Sudan, or Lebanon.

What employers may need to do

  • Reverify employees holding Somalia, Burma, Ethiopia, or South Sudan TPS EADs (categories A12/C19) now using Form I-9 Supplement B; those EADs are no longer valid.
  • Accept USCIS-notice-extended El Salvador EADs through Sept. 9, 2026 and Ukraine and Sudan EADs through Oct. 19, 2026, enter those dates in Section 2, and reverify before each date.
  • Accept Lebanon TPS EADs showing a May 27, 2026 card expiration through Nov. 27, 2026 and reverify before Nov. 28, 2026.
